Lesbian foster family show coming to TV2

Sat 25 Jan 2014 In: New Zealand Daily News

A new show about a lesbian couple raising foster children will begin screening on TV2 this afternoon. The Fosters was created by Jennifer Lopez’s production company for ABC Family, and follows the lives of the Foster family, headed by mums Lena Adams (Sherri Saum) and Stef Foster (Teri Polo). The biracial couple lives in San Diego, where Lena is a school administrator and Stef is a police officer. They have three children - Stef's biological son from a previous marriage, and a pair of adopted twins. They also agree to take on a troubled foster child and her younger brother, making their lives more complicated. It’s received incredibly mixed reviews from critics, with Variety saying it’s “an utterly by-the-numbers affair,” while the Huffington Post says it’s “revolutionary” and “ground-breaking”. The Fosters screens on TV2 at 3PM today.
