A picture which accompanies the story on a Nigerian website A Nigerian newspaper is reporting a woman has publicly disowned her cat because she thinks he is gay. The Leadership newspaper says the middle-aged woman suspects “an unnatural sexual behaviour” in the tomcat named Bull. It says the feline has made “sexual advances only to other male cats in the house even though there are several other female cats.” The paper adds that she “expressed a strong belief in the divine purpose of creating male and female of every creature to fulfil an ordained purpose of procreation.” The woman has said anyone who wants Bull can have him, but so far only nosey people have visited the house, along with others who think the claim is funny. Nigeria has just adopted draconian anti-gay legislation which activists say has whipped up even more homophobic fervour. This week thousands gathered outside a Shariah court as seven men appeared accused of belonging to gay organisations, throwing stones and calling for swift convictions. It caused the trial to be halted by the judge so the men could return to the safety of the prison.
