Cardinal thinks being gay is a 'defect'

Tue 21 Jan 2014 In: International News

Fernando Sebastián The Pope's new Spanish Cardinal believes being gay is a defect, which like his high blood pressure, can be cured. Fernando Sebastián has told the Spanish newspaper Diario Sur "Homosexuality is a defective manner of expressing sexuality, because [sex] has a structure and a purpose, which is procreation. "A homosexual who can't achieve this (procreation) is failing," the 85-year-old said. "Our bodies have many defects. I have high blood pressure." Sebastián doesn’t think this is insulting, but helpful, “because it is "possible to recover and become normal with the right treatment.” The Pope has meanwhile been inching towards some sort of progress in the Catholic Church, showing his stark difference from previous pontiffs when he told reporters last year "If someone is gay and seeks the Lord with good will, who am I to judge?"
