Libraries/Tomizone to unblock GayNZ.com

Thu 19 Dec 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

File Photo Auckland Libraries and Tomizone are quickly moving to have GayNZ.com removed from sites blocked by their internet filters. A reader contacted GayNZ.com when she was unable to access the site at Auckland Library through its free internet service. She also contacted the library, which was unaware of the block and immediately informed its digital team. WiFi provider Tomizone has also been speedy to respond, with a spokesman saying it will be sorted by the end of the week. “Tomizone uses a global filtering service called OpenDNS to filter anything objectionable, it services tens of millions of consumers at schools and other organisations, and we certainly do not consider GayNZ.com to fall into that category.” Tomizone offers 'hot spots' where people can get online for a fee, and is also the provider of Auckland Council sponsored free WiFi at numerous locations, including Auckland Libraries.
