A new "Rainbow Tick" of certification will be available from next year to businesses and organisations which can prove they cut the glbti-friendly mustard. One of its creators Michael Stevens says the Rainbow Tick is a certification programme, where businesses and organisations are audited on five particular areas around inclusiveness and safety for the glbti community, to see how they stack up. The standards are based on international best practice, as exemplified by the Human Rights Campaign in the USA and Stonewall in the UK. "Once they can demonstrate to use that they have achieved in these areas we're able to award them a Rainbow Tick," Stevens says. That's a visible sign, what they call a confidence mark, that shows the organisation is a safe place for people from our communities to work in, or to use."
