Peter and Hazelmary Bull A Christian couple has lost its Supreme Court appeal, five years after banning a gay couple from sleeping in a double room. In 2008, Peter and Hazelmary Bull were ordered to pay nearly NZ$7,000 in damages to civil partners Martyn Hall and Steven Preddy, who they refused a room at their Cornwall hotel on religious grounds. Five Supreme Court judges have now unanimously ruled they discriminated against the gay couple. Their only option to continue their case now would be to go to the European Court of Human Rights. Meanwhile, they have been forced to sell their guesthouse due to a downturn in business.
