The Tomb of the Unknown Warrior at the National War Memorial Glbt soldiers who have lost their lives serving New Zealand will be remembered at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Pride in Defence conference today. This afternoon the around 150 people attending the Wellington gathering will be invited to the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. When asked whether gay members of the military, whether they were out or not, will be remembered in some way, the Defence Force confirmed they will. “Although the wreath laying will take place to honour the memory of all fallen, the ceremony will include historical readings with a glbt theme,” the NZDF tells GayNZ.com Daily News. “We are one Defence Force, and we honour the memory of all men and women who served their country and gave their lives during that service.”
