Anti-gay group uses The XX track in campaign

Tue 26 Nov 2013 In: International News

The XX UK band The XX is considering suing a Croatian group opposed to marriage equality for using one of its songs in its campaign. The critically-acclaimed band has gay members. An ad for the cause of Christian anti-gay group In The Name of the Family uses The XX track Intro. A representative for The XX has told Croatian music news website Muzika.hr that obviously the band is “completely at odds with what the movement stands for” and wants to take action. In The Name of the Family has spent millions on its campaign urging people to vote for a ban on marriage equality in an upcoming referendum, which comes despite both the nation’s President and Prime Minister saying they will veto the move. “Determining marriage between a man and a woman does not belong in the constitution. A nation is judged by its attitude toward minorities,” President Ivo Josipovic has stated.
