Anika Moa has been announced as the headlining act for Out in the Square 2014. The musician will take the stage at the free community event on 18 January in Wellington’s Civic Square. Event co-chair Greig Wilson says Moa is excited about the theme of celebrating marriage equality. “Anika has been a vocal advocate for gay marriage and helped campaign for equal rights for the gay community,” he says. “She had a civil union in February 2010 and she and her wife Azaria have beautiful twin sons. She is a family-focused person, not to mention a brilliant performer, and we are very lucky she has agreed to play at Out in the Square next January.”
