Newlyweds and exhibitors Kevin Baker and Jonathan Smith cut the ribbon to open the first ever Gay Wedding Show After a successful first effort, the Gay Wedding Show will be back in even grander style next August. Marketing and Events Manager Peter Clark says he spoke with most exhibitors and as many visitors as I could at Sunday’s event in Auckland. “There were smiles all round,” he says. “Many exhibitors have already contacted me for information on securing their sites for another show in 2014” He says one same-sex couple told him they enjoyed being at a wedding show where they could be themselves. “We also received excellent positive coverage on both One and 3 News on Sunday night. As a result I have already been fielding calls from other businesses wanting to be involved next time, including three from Queenstown and one from Australia,” Clark says. The event is believed to be the only one of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The 2014 Gay Wedding Show will be on 10 August and Clark says the team already has plans to make the next one even bigger, “with more glam and even more of a blast”.
