Key would work with Craig to stay in power

Tue 12 Nov 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Prime Minister has made it clear he will work with homophobe Colin Craig, if it means staying in power. John Key has told TV3’s First Line he would be willing to sit down with him to discuss a political deal. "...in principle if he won a seat it would be a guaranteed National-Conservatives Government," the Prime Minister said. "Now, there is an awful lot of National supporters I think who would say, 'I don't want a far left-wing Government that the Greens and Labour represent', so as he [Craig] himself said these things are all about give and take and compromise. That's the nature of government. "But my expectations are that we will have discussions with Colin Craig at some point, as indeed we will with hopefully a number of other parties." There is speculation Key could do a ‘cup of tea’ style deal over the new seat coming for the North Shore. Colin Craig believes sexuality is a choice, that it’s "not intelligent to pretend that homosexual relationships are normal" and claims the “day of reckoning” is still to come in the wake of marriage equality.
