Under-pressure Mayor misses report launch

Len Brown at last year's Auckland Pride Parade Auckland's embattled mayor was a no-show at the launch of a report into the state of healthcare for GLBTI New Zealanders last night. Len Brown has skipped a number of planned public engagements since he admitted having an affair with local body candidate Bevan Chuang. While attending the launch of the Rainbow Health report in Greenlane last night was on his official list of scheduled events for the week, he pulled out of making an appearance. Brown sent his apologies, and told report author Michael Stevens he would "make it up" to the community. Mainstream media who were gathered outside on 'Mayor watch' quickly left when they realised Brown wasn't coming, aside from Radio New Zealand, who covered the actual report launch.
