Pioneering health research to be released

Thu 24 Oct 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback View at NDHA

Researcher Michael Stevens will tonight release his report into the public health needs of New Zealand’s ‘rainbow communities’. It’s the first-ever piece of research of its kind. The report was commissioned by the Auckland District Health Board following a symposium earlier this year on the community’s wellbeing, and the issue of suicide. It analyses the physical and mental health needs of GLBTI people from a public health perspective. The findings will be released tonight, and will look at the issue of ‘minority stress’, suggesting ways the health system can alleviate it “and provide the healthcare that all New Zealand citizens are entitled to”. GayNZ.com will have more information from 6PM.
