Mon 21 Oct 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at NDHA

Chris Carter Chris Carter has escaped with minor injuries after a car bomb exploded outside his Kabul home, killing at least two people. The former Labour MP and cabinet minister was just 25 metres away from the explosion, as he was preparing to leave the Green Village compound on Saturday morning New Zealand time. Carter, who was NZ's first elected openly gay MP and who now works for the UN Development programme, has told media it was "a bit too close for comfort'', adding if he and his two Australian friends hadn't been running a few minutes late they could have been hit. His ears are to be examined by specialists as he was hit by the force of the blast.
