Submissions close at the end of the month for The Legacy Project, an initiative offering glbti writers a chance to create short theatrical works expressing unique Kiwi voices. Writer and director Bruce Brown came up with the ideas because he believes there's "a real lack of quality gay stories being told from a Kiwi perspective in Auckland theatre." Writer and director submissions are open until the October 31. Six selected scripts will be worked up and performed as party of the Pride Festival 2014. Criteria is available on the project's website “We have received some great work so far and would like to thank those who have shared their stories or showed interest in directing. It’s great to see participation from people who have never had prior theatre experience,” Brown says. Those who can offer technical or backstage support are also being asked to register their interest by emailing submit@legacyproject.co.nz Actor auditions will be announced soon. The Basement Theatre has been confirmed as the home for The Legacy Project’s showcase, which will run from 11- 15 February, coinciding with the first week of Auckland Pride Festival 2014.
