Eminem drops a series of gay slurs in his new song Rap God, which includes a line about breaking “a motherf*cking table over the back of a couple faggots and crack it in half”. He also states: “Little gay-looking boy / So gay I can barely say it with a straight face-looking boy / You witnessing massacre like you watching a church gathering taking place-looking boy / 'Oy vey, that boy's gay,' that's all they say looking-boy / You take a thumbs up, pat on the back, the way you go from your label every day-looking boy.” The lyrics are being slammed by GLBTI rights advocates, while critics love the song. Such wording is not a new trend for the Detroit rapper, who performed with Elton John at the 2001 Grammy Awards in response to critics of the homophobia in his music. At the time, John said: “If I thought for one minute that he was [hateful], I wouldn't do it.” At the time, advocacy group GLAAD issued a statement decrying the collaboration and calling Eminem's music "hateful." Eminem has stated he is in favour of marriage equality, but only because “Everyone should have the chance to be equally miserable.”
