Rosie O'Donnell Outspoken lesbian comedian and activist Rosie O’Donnell will visit Auckland and Wellington during her Australasian stand-up tour next year. After getting her break on eighties talent show Star Search, O’Donnell has gone on to become a globally recognised comedian and actress. She has also hosted her own talk show, and been a host on US daytime talk show The View. O’Donnell has also been a candid advocate for gay rights, and used her quick wit to knock back anti-gay rhetoric, last year famously telling an abusive street preacher "I'm going to go home and f*ck my wife!" after he told her to go home and do the dishes, as “that’s your job”. The comedian's promoters are promising an irreverent show when she takes the stage at Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre on Friday 31 January, and Auckland’s ASB Theatre on Saturday 1 February. Tickets go on sale on Monday 21 October from Ticketek for the Wellington show, and Ticketmaster for the Auckland show. However Frontier Touring is running a pre-sale next Tuesday.
