A community meeting in Auckland tonight will enable the K'Rd Community Safety group to report back on the progress of initiatives to address violence against people on and around Auckland's gayest street. The group formed in response to a significant number of attacks on people in recent years, with gay men appearing to be a frequent target. Many of those attacks have seen the victims hospitalised and in one case a gay man required months of intensive therapy to partially recover from brain injuries. The group's aim is “to make K’ Rd area a safer place in which to live, work and visit” Tonight's meeting will will "present a chance to find out more about how K’ Rd Community Safety Inc. intends to help the community and provide an opportunity to join with us in making a difference," the group says. Meeting details are in the GayNZ.com National Events Diary.
