Richard Taki Richard Taki has been selected as the new Parade Director for Auckland Pride 2014. Taki was chosen for the role after the coordinator of the inaugural parade in February this year, Jonathan Smith, withdrew from contention due to a change in the position's reporting structure within Pride. "Richard brings vast knowledge and experience in the arts, production and event management to the delivery of the Auckland Pride Parade," the Pride Trust says. Taki, better known in drag circles as Bumpa Love, has worked for Unitec’s Department of Performing and Screen Arts, The National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney and the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, where he now lives. Prior to moving to Australia he worked with the former Auckland City Council on a number of major events and festivals, including the America’s Cup, Coca Cola Christmas in the Park, the Grey Lynn Festival and New Year’s Eve Celebrations. Next year's parade along Ponsonby Road will take place on February 22nd.
