Auckland invests $100K in Pride for $500k return

Auckland War Memorial Museum lit up for Pride 2013 The Auckland Pride Festival and Parade in 2014 will receive around $100,000 from Auckland City council to ensure the celebration of glbti life returns next year, in the expectation that it will generate five times that amount for the city.  “The ongoing recognition and support through Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development [ATEED] provides us with the financial stability and confidence to go out, step it up, and put on an even bigger and better festival for our communities and supporters from around New Zealand and the world,” says Pride co-chair Megan Cunningham-Adams in a statement confirming Pride 2014 will go ahead and the level of public funding it will receive. ATEED sponsors the Auckland Pride Festival as part of the city’s major events strategy to deliver social and economic benefits to the city. It's General Manager Destination
