NZAF acknowledges "poster boy" Peter Taylor

Mon 16 Sep 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Peter Taylor 3.30PM: The NZ AIDS Foundation has paid tribute to the late Peter Taylor, who was an openly HIV-positive gay man who appeared in safe-sex campaigns and was a past trustee of the organisation. “It’s impossible to summarise in a sentence what Peter Taylor gave back to the gay community in his lifetime," the NZAF's Executive Director Shaun Robinson says. "Among many other things, Peter was one of the NZAF’s first safe sex poster boys and he was a valued member of the NZAF Board of Trustees in 2007. He was instrumental in lifting the issue of HIV stigma and discrimination to the top of the agenda and that legacy continues today.” “Peter was a man who demonstrated nobility and wisdom in the presence of tragedy. He never gave up on truly living for himself, his friends and his community. He is an example to everyone.” “I know that all NZAF staff and Board members will be remembering Peter fondly today. Our thoughts are with Peter’s friends and family,” Robinson says.
