Mon 16 Sep 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Hamilton Pride is well under way with a variety of events staged over the weekend and a high-powered forum tonight exploring "the lgbt political agenda." Over the weekend a panel at Waikato University including the Human Rights Commission's Jack Byrne and professor Ngahuia to Awekotuku discussed issues around gender diversity and yesterday afternoon saw the annual Doggy Day Out at the Hamilton Lake Domain Greens MP Jan Logie, Auckland deputy mayor Penny Hulse and representatives of Rainbow Youth will gather at the Gallagher Performing Arts Centre to take part in a 'where to from here' discussion on what social and legal changes are still needed to achieve glbti equality and broader acceptance in society. Throughout this week events such as a UniQ Cultural hour, a Queer Women's Quiz and an alternative fashion party will lead up to the closing party on Friday night.
