McNee's killer back behind bars after abduction

Phillip Layton Edwards The man who killed gay Auckland interior decorator David McNee in 2003 is back behind bars following his arrest yesterday in connection with a child abduction case. Phillip Layton Edwards, 33, is accused of abducting a two year old boy from the Panmure home of a women he had been seeing. The abduction sparked a massive police search and the child was later found abandoned but unharmed. Edwards was found at a Blockhouse Bay address and a 25 year old woman has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.
