Australian men wed at Te Papa marae

Mon 19 Aug 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Two Australian men have been married today as part of a promotion mounted by Tourism NZ and Te Papa. Paul McCarthy and Trent Kandler were given away by their parents in front of a small gathering of friends and family at the Te Papa marae. "We are indeed truly fortunate to have found each other," Kandler said during the pair's vows. "I am in awe that we have this opportunity to finally make our dream a reality." "I am so proud to stand together as a couple today, ready to become united in marriage and to spend the rest of our days together... with love, friendship and our steadfast belief in each other." The pair, whose celebrant was past Wellington mayor Kerry Prendergast, will go on to honeymoon here in New Zealand before returning home.
