Mon 19 Aug 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

The Australian couple 9.10AM: Reluctant to identify themselves but beaming with happiness, two same-sex couples have set on the path to being married couples at the Auckland Registry Office. The third marriage license to be collected after the doors opened at 8.30 this morning was picked up by two young Australian lesbians who were happy to be photographed but preferred to remain anonymous. They also preferred not to divulge details of where or when they will be marrying. However, if they marry within the next few hours they may well be the first Aussie same-sex couple to marry in New Zealand. A registrar is currently with another couple, two middle-aged New Zealand men, who are about to be married in the Albert Street office, They, too, preferred not to be identified. 9.45am update: The two men have emerged from their ceremony looking calm and composed and have quietly slipped away.
