Richard Rawstorn and Richard Andrew A male flower girl is to be a feature of a dual same-sex wedding ceremony which will kick off soon in Rotorua. At the Rotorua Museum The Edge radio hosts have unsuccessfully tried to cajole one of the grooms, both named Richard, to get married in his underwear and are giving listeners and guests the opportunity to wish both couples well. Meanwhile, a big crowd is gathering on a cool, partly cloudy morning for the Auckland wedding, with rainbow flags, colourful drag queens including Miss Ribena and a celebratory rainbow banner across the front of the Unitarian church. Two bus-loads of guests who over-nighted at a downtown hotel have arrived and a big crowd is milling about on the street with the brides expected to arrive soon. 31 same-sex couples are believed to be marrying around the country today according to Births, Deaths and Marriages. Three of those weddings are part of radio station promotions, another is a Te Papa wedding sponsored by Tourism New Zealand and a couple will be married in an aircraft courtesy of Air New Zealand.
