Athletes' fingernails support glbti Russians

Fri 16 Aug 2013 In: International News

Swedish athletes at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow have courted controversy by a visible show of solidarity with oppressed glbti Russians. High jumper Emma Green Tregaro and sprinter Moa Hjelmer have stirred up controversy after the painting their fingernails with the colours of the rainbow in a silent protest. Green Tregaro calls the move "the perfect opportunity to show what I think... To me, love for another person is the most beautiful thing in the world, and that's what I want to show, no matter the gender or whatever."
