Wed 14 Aug 2013 In: International News

Vitali Milonov A Russian politician has taken a below the belt swing at actor and author Stephen Fry following his highly-publicised criticism of Russia's mounting anti-gay law. Speaking on BBC Radio, Vitali Milonov, one of the architects of the laws, has called Fry "sick" and likened homosexuality to bestiality. Fry recently admitted publicly that he is bipolar which once drove him to attempt suicide. He has called for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic to be withdrawn from Russia because of mounting levels o violence against gays. "Who is this Stephen Fry?" Milonov told the station. "I know because he is sick person because he tried to commit suicide as far as I remember." Milonov went on to say: "[Homosexuality] is a shame and it is a sin but it is a personal choice. It is not normal but a person cannot be punished in Russia for being homosexual, or to live with a dog, with a horse, with a sheep, whatever."
