From a gay choir workshop, to a rainbow dog walk, Hamilton Pride will once again provide a range of events as diverse at the people attending. The annual week of Waikato GLBTI celebration will take place from September 14 to 21. The launch day will feature a Various Voices gay choir workshop, then a Gender Diversity Panel, the official launch at Waikato University and a Queer Beers social night at The Cook. Sunday the 15th will be a chance for the pooches to strut in pride, with a Rainbow Dog Walk at Hamilton Lake Domain. Waikato Queer Youth (WaQuy) will then hold its AGM after what it describes as one of its most difficult years since its inception. On Monday there will be a Māori, Indigenous and South Pacific sexual health forum, followed by “what's next on the LGBTT political agenda” discussion featuring Labour’s Tim Barnett, Green MP Jan Logie and pro-GLBTI Auckland Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse. A full week of events will follow, culminating in an alcohol-free Born This Way Ball on Friday night and the Pride Party at Shine on Saturday night.
