A picture of Edwards taken last year (supplied by NZ Police) Police are still hunting for gay-killer Phillip Layton Edwards, who is accused of snatching a child from an Auckland home. The two-year-old boy has been reunited with his mother and is safe and well after yesterday’s alleged abduction. Edwards is still on the run. Now 33, in 2003 Edwards killed celebrity interior decorator David McNee after a sex for money arrangement went wrong. McNee died after a horiffic beating for which Edwards was jailed for manslaughter. After his first release from prison after killing McNee Edwards was subsequently convicted on another assault charge and returned to prison. He was released last year.
