Olwage has brush with amused German cops

Fri 9 Aug 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Chris Olwage The New Mr Gay World has had a bit of an experience with German police during his travels in Europe following the competition. Aucklander Chris Olwage won the title last weekend in Antwerp, and has now arrived safely in Vienna after a trip that was 'a little scary'. "The German police stopped the car I was carpooling in twice... and had my bags thoroughly searched," he says. "What an experience, they all laughed at the contents... trophies, costumes, prizes and pointe shoes. "They even went as far as to tell me that they loved my NZ passport, it was really pretty haha," Olwage reports from Vienna. The new Mr Gay World will be home on 20 August, after which he will plan his objectives for the following year. He is asking anyone who would like him to make an appearance at an event to let him know.
