Trans Auckland rapper Randa gets BDO slot

Thu 1 Aug 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Randa Auckland rapper and beat-maker Randa has been announced as one of the acts who will be part of the returning Big Day Out in Auckland. Randa appeared at Auckland alternative women’s night Proud Mary last August, and his catchy sound and fun style had the crowd pumping. He's opened for Grimes and Crystal Castles and is a regular on Auckland’s indie stages. Pearl Jam will headline the 2014 Auckland Big Day Out, with Arcade Fire making a welcome return, while Blur and Snoop Lion are the other big name acts. Grouplove, Tame Impala and Major Lazer are among the other international acts in the line-up, while the dance stage will be headlined by Sweden’s Steve Angello. Among the New Zealand acts are The Naked and Famous, The Phoenix Foundation, Beastwars and Concord Dawn. The Big Day Out will be on Friday 17 January at Western Springs. If you want to check Randa out in the meantime, head along to the GLBTI not for profit Romp Project’s Mix Tape Sessions at St Kevin’s Arcade on 10 August (we’ll have more on that soon).
