Aucklanders Tash Vitali and Melissa Ray have won radio network ZM’s Fabulous Gay Wedding competition, and will be married on the morning marriage equality comes into effect in New Zealand. They have thanked all those who voted for them in a morning of celebration, reporting "the dirty cheap bubbly is all over the new carpet". The couple says: "Massive day (and week) for us and you have no idea how much this means to us today." The women have been together for two years and are engaged. “We watched the marriage bill pass at a bar on K’ Rd surrounded by our friends, many of whom fought for this bill. How better to celebrate our union than a big f-off party marrying the love of my life?” Tash wrote in her application letter to ZM. Along with royal-style wedding ceremony and reception, they have also won a seven-night honeymoon in Fiji.
