Students' school ball rights to be spelt out

Thu 25 Jul 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

File Photo YouthLaw and Rainbow Youth are tonight holding a hui to discuss the rights of high school students to attend school balls with the partner of their choice. YouthLaw says GLBTI young people have faced policies which make it difficult for them to do this, for example not being allowed to bring a same-sex partner to the ball, or having to sign a contract certifying their sexuality. Representatives of Rainbow Youth, YouthLaw, the Human Rights Commission and YouthLine will speak at the gathering, which is at the Rainbow Youth hub at 281 K’ Rd from 6PM. Those wishing to attend need to message YouthLaw on its Facebook page or email Mira: mira@youthlaw.co.nz
