Mikita and Ferguson Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson has wed his longtime partner Justin Mikita in New York just a few weeks before the couple will be a part of an historic New Zealand flight. Playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner officiated the ceremony between the actor, 37, and his lawyer partner Mikita, 27. According to Us Weekly, the pair had over 200 guests at their reception, including many of Ferguson's co-stars. “Never been happier. XO Goodnight!” Ferguson tweeted after the ceremony, while Mikita simply tweeted “Husband.” In lieu of wedding gifts, Ferguson and Mikita asked that guests donate to the marriage equality charity Tie The Knot, to help other same-sex couples win equal rights in their states. The couple will be in New Zealand next month, onboard Air New Zealand’s history-making same-sex wedding flight. A gay or lesbian couple will be married at 30,000 feet in the air between Queenstown and Auckland on 19 August, the day marriage equality comes into force. Ferguson says he and his fiancé Justin Mikita “are thrilled to be taking part in witnessing this historic moment for New Zealand.” He adds: “After launching 'Tie The Knot', our bow tie campaign for marriage equality in the US, it is clear that the journey towards marriage, both in the US and beyond, means so much to us.”
