Oz couple picked for Tourism NZ wedding

Trent Kandler and Paul McCarthy The winners of Tourism New Zealand's same-sex wedding competition are a vet and a teacher from Newcastle, who were picked from 300 other entries. Paul McCarthy and Trent Kandler are the Australian couple who will be wed at Te Papa on 19 August. The couple and eight of their closest friends or family will be flown to Wellington, hosted in the luxury Museum Art Hotel and have their reception at Martin Bosley's award-winning restaurant. The couple will receive a full range of wedding services by the Wellington Wedding Show including flowers, rings and designer wedding outfits. "We have been together for 11 years and the fact that we'll be the first to make a lifelong pledge to each other in somewhere as beautiful as New Zealand, is both historically significant, and an important step in our personal lives," McCarthy says.
