The final four pairings have been announced in a radio station’s Same Sex Wedding competition, where a gay couple and a lesbian couple will be married simultaneously at Rotorua Museum. This morning, The Edge’s breakfast hosts Jay-Jay, Mike and Dom announced the top four couples who will campaign over the next two weeks to gain the most votes. They are Richard Rawstorn and Richard Andrew (Christchurch), McColm Cowden and Keith Brown (Auckland), Jess Ives and Rachel Briscoe (Bay of Islands) and Bridget Casse and Michelle Smales (Auckland). Read more about them and vote here Breakfast Show host Jay-Jay Feeney has said she is excited to be marrying two same sex couples at the same time. “We’ve always been very supportive of the law change and we can’t wait to throw a double wedding for our same sex couples who can now be married the same way as everyone else,” she says. The Edge’s breakfast show, and host Dom Harvey in particular, has a history of making fun of the GLBTI community, from marching in a g-string in this year’s Auckland Pride Parade, because he lost a bet to making up a ‘rug-munching’ song about Ali Mau.
