OUTLine has appointed Trevor Easton as the new manager of its phone support and counselling services. Easton comes to OUTLine from a corporate career in broadcasting. He has previously but not recently volunteered as an OUTLine phone support worker and Board member. The OUTLine board says his former experience working with OUTLine alongside the fresh perspective and professional skills that Easton brings to OUTLine's current operations make him the ideal candidate. Chairperson Michael Wallmannsberger said that Easton was selected from a strong field of candidates through a robust process involving short-listing, panel interviews and a final interview with the full Board. "We were delighted with the interest in OUTLine and the calibre of the applicants,” Wallmannsberger says. Steve Newton will step down as Acting Executive Director at the end of July after a handover period. Newton has overseen OUTLine's operations since November when the Board initiated a review of structure and staffing. Wallmannsberger says Newton earned the trust and confidence of OUTLine's volunteers and the Board was fortunate to have a person of his ability and integrity step immediately into an interim role. "Steve Newton has made a great contribution to OUTLine throughout a period of uncertainty and the Board is extremely grateful to him.”
