Monteith supported the Straight But Not Narrow campaign Fans of gay-favourite Glee are reeling at the death of actor Cory Monteith, who is best known for playing Finn Hudson on the musical-comedy. Monteith was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver by hotel staff. Vancouver police said that the cause of death was not immediately apparent but ruled out foul play. Monteith had struggled with drug addiction. The actor was a strong advocate for gay rights, backing a number of gay charities, such as the Straight But Not Narrow campaign, encouraging young heterosexual men to show support to their gay peers. Among those to express their shock and sadness is Neil Patrick Harris, who has tweeted: “How sad to read about Cory Monteith passing away. What a shame. He was a lovely, kind, talented guy and will be missed.”
