FOSTERING QUEER FILMMAKING IN AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND: WHAT CAN OUR COMMUNITIES DO? Saturday 20 July 2013, 10am-2pm The Film School, 86 Vivian St, Wellington Reel Queer is organising a workshop to generate ideas from the queer and filmmaking communities that will encourage more films with queer/ LGBTI themes to be made in New Zealand. "As organisers of Out Takes, New Zealand's queer film festival, we've noticed that we receive very few submissions of new local queer short films each year,” says Reel Queer Committee member Gavin Hamilton. “We are challenging ourselves to do things differently to encourage local filmmakers – and we'd like our LGBTI friends to contribute their feedback and ideas too. It'd be great to see more New Zealand queer stories on screen." The workshop is open to everyone. Reel Queer encourages people with ideas or who are just enthusiastic about seeing more queer/LGBTI films being made hereto head along and participate. “We already have registrations from Auckland and Wellington and a great mix of filmmakers, films students and LGBTI community members attending.” Programme available in PDF format Registrations are open now and will be accepted on the day. But if possible, please email info@outtakes.org.nz to register your interest by Friday 19 July, 6pm. Attendance fee (to help defray some expenses): $5 unwaged, $8 waged. Reel Queer - 13th July 2013
