Tue 25 Jun 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Tim Burgess Tourism New Zealand is on the hunt for a same-sex couple to be the first Australians to marry in New Zealand. It will fly an Aussie same-sex couple for a ceremony on 19 August, the date that legislation to the Marriage Amendment Act comes into force. Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager Australia Tim Burgess says with a whole host of unforgettable locations to choose from, New Zealand is one of the world’s finest wedding destinations. “New Zealand has many stunning wedding settings to choose from. You can shout your love from the mountaintops or clink your glasses at one of the country’s finest vineyards – and then take off for the honeymoon of your dreams. Add to this our luxury lodges, spas and gourmet food – and you have a match made in heaven. “We are excited to be making history and working with one lucky same-sex couple to become the very first from Australia to be married here in New Zealand.” The prize includes return flights from Australia, accommodation, a special wedding ceremony and stylish reception. The wedding location has not yet been announced; details will be revealed in July along with the winning couple.
