Liberace flick coming to NZ Int'l Film Fest

Sat 22 Jun 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Liberace biopic Behind the Candelabra will screen at the New Zealand International Film Festival. Michael Douglas plays Liberace in the Steven Soderbergh film, while Matt Damon plays his lover. It was made for HBO because Soderbergh put to every film studio in Hollywood, but they all said it was “too gay”. It premiered at Cannes Film Festival. NZIFF in Auckland screens from 18 July to 4 August, and in Wellington from 26 July to 11 August.
