Tue 11 Jun 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Shaun Robinson The New Zealand AIDS Foundation has had an encouraging response to an offer to help the Black Caps build on their overseas HIV awareness work. New Zealand’s national side is taking part in an initiative using cricket to put HIV prevention and anti-stigma messages in the spotlight. The global Think Wise campaign is running through the 2013 Champions Trophy Tournament, which is underway in England and Wales. “It is fantastic to have members of the Black Caps prepared to stand up and be counted when it comes to raising awareness of HIV and AIDS,” says NZAF Executive Director Shaun Robinson. “I have spoken to Cricket NZ and they were enthusiastic about how happy the players were to be involved to reduce stigma and prevent the spread of HIV,” he adds. “The NZAF has offered to brief Cricket NZ about the New Zealand epidemic and this will be happening in the near future”.
