Cartier Trust says thank you for Wigarama

Wigarama 2013 - all pics thanks to Andrea The weather outside was frightful but there was no shortage of delight at Switch Bar on Saturday 4 May. The Cartier Trust has banked $1,950 from the event, $920 from the door and $1,030 a percentage of the bar, Cartier Trustees would like to say a huge thank you to all who dug deep and made the event such a huge success. Over 15 acts took to the stage in memory of much-loved drag artist Courtney Cartier. Karen Ritchie performed The mood swung from one of quiet reflection through to celebration and there was even a special performance from the Founding Trustee of the Cartier Trust, Karen Ritchie.  “Wigarama is an opportunity for us to remember those we have lost to HIV while at the same time celebrating all of the beauty in our community” Ritchie says. “A huge amount of work goes into the event and the Trust would like to sincerely thank Tess, Wayne Clarke and all those who gave their time and energy” The Cartier Trust was set up in 2002 to ensure that people who die from HIV-related complications can be farewelled with love and dignity. The Trust has supported 23 funerals and with a strong financial foundation in place is now considering extending their work to fund HIV/AIDS-awareness and to support people with HIV who are very unwell and need support in the difficult later stages of life.
