One Night in Bangkok coming to Switch

Mon 20 May 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

Switch Bar is hosting an event designed to raise the profile of Auckland’s Asian GLBTI community this Saturday night. Sponsors Get it On! say One Night in Bangkok will be hosted by Miss Ling Ling of Caluzzi cabaret and Tess Tickle. Community Engagement Co-ordinator for the Get it On! programme Elton Siataga-Raharaha is helping get the event off the ground. He says he is very excited to help bring the event to life and is looking forward to an evening of great entertainment performances. “There will also be some cultural performances that we are keeping under wraps until the night but we hope everyone will come along and enjoy them,” he says. “As part of the Get it On! team I feel that it is important to get our message of behaviour change into all parts of our Rainbow community. I hope that One Night in Bangkok helps to promote our Love Your Condom message in the Asian sector of our community. Sex is a wonderful thing and condoms make it that much better.” Siataga-Raharaha says the Asian part of our community is much bigger and stronger than people may think. “This is one of the first events that I have been part of that celebrates the beauty and people of Asian cultures. It is exciting and it is special to be involved.” There will be prizes and Asian-inspired drink specials available on the night.
