National MP Maurice Williamson says scheduling issues and creative differences mean he won’t be making an appearing on US talk show Ellen. He was invited to appear on her show after his ‘big gay rainbow speech’ during the marriage equality Bill’s final reading turned heads worldwide. DeGeneres tweeted his speech to her over 19 million followers, saying it was "powerful, compassionate and hilarious". Williamson tweeted this morning: "I won't now be doing the Ellen show. Taping of the current show ends in just over a week and we've been unable to arrange a suitable slot." The show's season is due to end next week and the new season won't start until September. Williamson has also cited creative differences, telling the Herald the show wanted to make it about him, and he wanted it to be about showcasing New Zealand.
