Marriage equality satire 'quotes' irk Craig

Thu 25 Apr 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News View at Wayback

Colin Craig Conservative Party leader Colin Craig claims he has a sense of humour despite threatening legal action over a marriage equality-themed satirical blog. The blog included an invented quote in which Craig supposedly talks about the religious meaning of rainbows, in response to MP Maurice Williamson's 'big gay rainbow' address in Parliament the night the marriage equality bill was finally passed. Craig campaigned vigorously against the bill and attempted to inject humour into an Auckland University student debate on the subject by throwing chocolate bars into the audience which was not generally receptive to his views. The satirical blog has responded by making it even clearer that its quotes in the name of Craig are not anything he actually said. Craig this evening withdrew the threat of legal action.
