Jury finds Gosnell guilty of Miles' murder

Tue 16 Apr 2013 In: New Zealand Daily News

12.55PM: Hayden Miles The High Court jury in the trial of the killer of troubled gay youth Hayden Miles has returned a verdict of murder. Gavin Gosnell subjected Miles to a prolonged "sadistic bearing in August 2011 and, when the boy died of his wounds, curt up the body and buried it in serveral Christchurch locations. Gosnell's lawyer did not dispute the fact that Gosnell's actions led to Miles' death but said killing the youth was not the killer's intent and that therefore the verdict should be manslaughter, a lesser charge than murder. GayNZ.com Daily News will bring you reaction to the verdict throughout the afternoon.
