France on cusp of marriage, adoption laws

Sun 14 Apr 2013 In: International News View at Wayback

France’s Senate has approved a Bill that would legalise same-sex marriage and adoption, which must now be passed by the lower house to become law. The lower house of France's Parliament was expected to vote on, and pass, the bill in May, however it now appears that will happen by Wednesday - the same day New Zealand will have its third reading of its marriage equality Bill. Justice Minister Christiane Taubira said the bill strengthens French society "by granting the simple recognition of full citizenship to homosexual couples."
