Hayden Miles Hayden Miles has this morning been described as a "feminine, not very masculine" youth who, just hours before the fatal attack in August 2011, was upset about being robbed and was talking of taking his own life. Giving evidence in the High Court in Christchurch Suneeta Sloane said she met Miles, who was unknown to her, in the street in the late afternoon of the day he was killed. She described the 15-year-old as "feminine, not very masculine, slim, skinny, not very tall." She said he told her he had been bashed and robbed of his cellphone and she let him use her own cellphone to contact his mother. After the call she sat with Miles for more than half an hour as he went from being upset and angry and talking of committing suicide to calmer and joking with Sloane. She says he was drinking from a cask of wine and offered her some, which she declined. He eventually asked her to come with him to a nearby park to drink but this she also declined and they parted company. She understood he was heading for a friend’s house nearby, not the Cashel Street flat where he was subsequently brutally assaulted and was found dead the following morning.
